Relapse: Unpacking the Realities of Recovery with David and Darcy

I think the biggest thing I would wish for- and I don't know if it's possible- is that people could, somehow we could figure out a way to help people not have to feel shame, about it, right, that's the biggest thing is that, um, even if their behavior is shameful, like when they go back out, because, but most time it's not right, it's not always shameful, and so there's got to be also an understanding that not all behavior can be accounted to same, just because that person might have been under the influence.
Relapse is often seen as a step back, but what if it's just part of the journey? In this episode of 'Voices in Recovery', David Lewry and Darcy dive into the multifaceted world of relapse and recovery. They tackle the tough questions: What does it really mean to relapse? How do negative stereotypes impact those trying to recover? And most importantly, how can we find peace and build supportive networks during this challenging process?
David opens up about his own recovery path, sharing how harm reduction played a crucial role long before he sought formal help. This conversation isn't just about the struggles; it's about understanding the human experience in addiction and finding ways to navigate it with empathy and resilience. Whether you're on your own recovery journey or supporting someone who is, this episode offers valuable insights and a sense of community.
So, grab a cup of tea, settle in, and get ready for an honest, heart-to-heart discussion that might just change the way you see relapse.
