Recovery in Texas: Casey Arrillaga's Journey and Insights

I don't think the point of the treatment center is to get you sober. That's something we're going to try and help you with. So, like you said, whether you're writing an essay, writing a poem, writing a song, just learning to play your instrument a little bit better, learning to dribble a basketball a little bit better, being able to make the shot from behind your back, whatever it is that sense that life has challenged ahead of us in a positive way, and I can see myself getting a little bit better than I did Yesterday.
What does recovery look like deep in the heart of Texas? In this episode of 'Recovery Uncensored', host Ty Bechel sits down with Casey Arrillaga, a clinical social worker and chemical dependency counselor from Wimberley, Texas. Casey brings a wealth of experience, both personal and professional, to the table. Having lived with and around addiction his entire life, he offers a unique perspective on recovery and family counseling.
His book, 'Realistic Hope: The Family Survival Guide for Facing Alcoholism and Other Addictions', and his podcast, 'Addiction and the Family', showcase his extensive knowledge gained from helping thousands of families navigate the turbulent waters of addiction. In their conversation, Ty and Casey dive into what makes recovery in Texas stand out. They explore the vital role of family support in the recovery process, emphasizing how crucial it is for family members to seek help and resources.
Casey shares his own journey through recovery, highlighting how he and his wife manage their personal programs. They also touch on the importance of finding personal happiness and purpose, and how creative expression can be a powerful tool in addiction recovery. The episode doesn't shy away from tough topics either. Casey provides valuable insights into sex and love addiction, discussing characteristics, self-diagnosis, and the importance of seeking help.
He passionately talks about ending the stigma around addiction and encouraging people to reach out for support. Whether you're struggling with addiction, supporting a loved one, or just curious about the intricacies of recovery, this episode offers a treasure trove of information and inspiration. Tune in to hear Casey's compelling story and gain practical advice on navigating the path to recovery.
