Michael Paddleford: Finding Hope and Healing Through Community
Please don't let anything or anybody stand in the way of your recovery.
Imagine losing everything you’ve worked for—your money, your family, and almost your life. That’s the reality Michael Paddleford faced after a work injury in 2002 led him down the dark path of opiate addiction. For 16 long years, Michael battled his demons, enduring countless setbacks, including being kicked out of every recovery program he entered. He even spent eight months living in his car, sleeping in parking lots and rest areas.
But Michael's story isn't just one of struggle; it's also one of incredible resilience and hope. On Recovery Revolution Live, he opens up about his journey to sobriety and the pivotal moment on November 3, 2018, when he and his wife found their way to recovery together. Michael's candid account of his struggles and triumphs highlights the importance of 'recovering out loud'—sharing one's journey openly to break down stigma and build community support.
Today, Michael is a Registered Peer Recovery Coach in Lewiston, Maine, and is working towards a Bachelor's degree. He and his wife also run a Facebook group called 'Recovery on the Road,' where they offer hope, connection, and recovery resources to people worldwide. His story underscores the transformative power of medication-assisted treatment, advocacy, and community-building.
By prioritizing his own recovery and helping others do the same, Michael shows that it's possible to turn even the darkest times into a beacon of hope. Tune in to hear Michael’s inspiring journey and find out how you can support your own or someone else’s path to recovery.
