Jennifer Kaucher: From Teen Advocate to Prevention Specialist

That is an experience because of your association with coca recently, I would say it's that people get well, that there is hope, and unfortunately not everyone's story ends positively when we talk about the disease of addiction. But the other reality of it is that people do get well.
Jennifer Kaucher’s journey from a high school advocate to a Prevention Specialist with the Council on Chemical Abuse (COCA) is nothing short of inspiring. In this episode of 'Your Bridge to Addiction Resources', Jennifer opens up about her early desire to create a drug- and alcohol-free environment during her school years. Alongside three friends, she initiated a program promoting healthy, substance-free activities.
Her passion didn’t stop there; she participated in COCA’s 'Earn and Learn' class during her senior year, which solidified her path in prevention work. After graduating from Alvernia University, Jennifer joined COCA full-time. Now, she brings vital resources to area schools, manages COCA’s website and social media, and creates educational materials for the community. Jennifer finds immense fulfillment in offering students alternatives to drug and alcohol use, equipping them with the tools they need to lead healthier lives.
She shares how her understanding of addiction as a brain disease has deepened over time and how she supports friends in recovery. Throughout the episode, Jennifer emphasizes the critical role of education and resources in preventing addiction. She candidly discusses the impact of addiction on families and friends, while also highlighting the hope and possibility of recovery. This episode is a testament to Jennifer’s dedication and the life-changing work being done by COCA.
