What happens when a life plagued by addiction turns into a mission to save others? Meet Flindt Andersen, the founder of PAIN (Parents and Addicts In Need), who shares his riveting story with Matt Gardiner on this episode of Matt Gardiner LIVE. Starting his journey into substance abuse at just 13, Flindt's path spiraled into a 23-year battle with opioids, culminating in a daily intake of 70-80 Vicodin pills.
It wasn’t until his best friend intervened and got him admitted to the Betty Ford treatment center in 2001 that Flindt began his road to recovery. In 2009, driven by a desire to help others facing similar struggles, Flindt founded PAIN. This nonprofit has since become a lifeline for thousands, providing rehabilitation services and family support. The organization is also a certified distributor of Narcan, the life-saving opioid overdose reversal agent, and operates Sober Living Homes in Fresno, California.
During the pandemic, when addicts were particularly vulnerable, Flindt expanded his efforts by opening New Perceptions North, a multi-facility recovery center. Flindt’s story is not just about personal triumph but also about relentless advocacy. He talks passionately about the importance of educating young people on the dangers of opioids, especially fentanyl, and the risks associated with substance experimentation among high school athletes. He also highlights the profound impact addiction has on families and the critical need for community support.
Matt Gardiner expresses deep admiration for Flindt’s unwavering commitment to combating the opioid crisis and promises to continue supporting PAIN’s mission.
