Empowering Parents: Vallie Cross on the PADREs Program

We work very hard to make sure that the groups are at times that are convenient. This is just completely to come up alongside parents and give them support that they would maybe not even realize initially that they would like to have.
Parenting can be tough, especially when dealing with the risks associated with drug use. In this episode of 'Give, Get, Grow: Stories, Insight, and More', Vallie Cross sits down with Connor Gilbertson to talk about the Parenting Awareness and Drug Risk Education (PADREs) program. Vallie dives into how PADREs supports parents and grandparents by providing essential tools and resources to help them thrive in their caregiving roles.
The PADREs program, one of ADAC's earliest initiatives, offers a variety of services including parenting classes, support groups, and goal-setting workshops. They even provide childcare services for parents who need a break and peer support from others in similar situations. A standout feature is the program's accessibility; no referral is needed to join, making it easier for busy parents to get the support they need.
Vallie also highlights the importance of dads in parenting and shares how PADREs offers a special curriculum just for them. Throughout the episode, Vallie's passion for helping families shines through as she discusses the impact of PADREs across multiple counties. If you're curious about how PADREs can make a difference in your life or someone you know, this episode is a must-listen.
