Tyler's Road to Recovery: A Story of Hope and Resilience

I admitted it all day long, but there was just that moment of clarity where I finally accepted it rather than just admitting it and decided that I would do whatever it took to stay sober, and I got a sponsor and I really started working on myself.
Picture a teenager grappling with addiction at just 17. That's Tyler's story. In this episode of the Boiled Owl AA Recovery Podcast, hosts Don and Sam sit down with Tyler, who opens up about his turbulent journey through addiction and recovery. Tyler didn't just attend AA meetings; he started one in Wilmington, NC, showing an early commitment to his sobriety. However, his path wasn't straightforward. Relapses led him to homelessness and repeated stints in jail and rehab.
His father, a drug counselor, challenged him to give sobriety a year, which became a turning point in his life. Moving to High Point, NC, Tyler found solace and support in Narcotics Anonymous (NA), where he worked the steps and joined the Awakenings Group in Greensboro. Clean and sober since July 11, 2017, Tyler shares the raw realities of his experiences, from making amends to repairing relationships strained by addiction.
This episode isn't just about Tyler's struggles; it's about the power of community, the importance of finding a sponsor, and the transformative process of working the steps in both AA and NA. Whether you're new to sobriety or supporting someone on their journey, Tyler's story is a powerful reminder that recovery is possible, no matter how many times you fall.
