Nelli Smith's Journey: Bringing Divine Light Energy Meditation to Women in Recovery

I have learned that some of the women feel they are alone, and so having somebody come to just simply touch them a little bit it makes them feel they're not alone...
Ever wondered how a gentle touch could help someone on their recovery journey? In this episode of 'Recovery Coast to Coast', Neil Scott sits down with Nelli Smith, a dedicated volunteer Care Partner at New Directions for Women in Costa Mesa, California. This pioneering program is one of the oldest and most successful gender-specific addiction treatment centers in the country.
Nelli shares her unique approach to supporting women through Divine Light Energy Meditation, a technique that focuses on promoting relaxation, inner peace, and spiritual awareness. Nelli explains that Divine Light Energy Meditation is a non-invasive practice where volunteers lightly touch specific energy centers on a woman's body, like the back of the neck and kidneys. This touch helps open up these centers, allowing the women to absorb divine light and feel more at ease.
The sessions are intimate, with three volunteers working with one woman at a time, ensuring personalized care. Each session lasts between 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the day's flow. This method isn't about physical healing but rather about helping women connect with their inner selves and shift their energy positively. Many of the women who come to New Directions for Women have never meditated before and are dealing with anxiety and emotional turmoil.
However, under the gentle guidance of Nelli and her fellow volunteers, they quickly learn to meditate and find a sense of peace. Interestingly, children are also welcome to join these sessions, benefiting from the calming energy alongside their mothers. Nelli's work underscores the importance of a holistic approach to recovery. It's not just about overcoming physical addiction but also about healing the mind and spirit.
Volunteers like Nelli play a vital role in this process, offering their time and spiritual guidance to those in need. If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, New Directions for Women might offer the supportive environment needed for recovery.
