Krista H.: Finding Hope Through AA and the 12 Steps

I couldn't get past step three, which is to turn your life over to God, as you understand God... But what I found out in that process is that I wasn't alone, but that every single resentment I had, she had input, she had been there, she had known, you know. Now I know, different people have different experiences with step five. This was part of it, because for me it wasn't the burning bush or anything like that. So that's what I like on step, it says, as a result, having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, yeah, for me that's what it was.
Imagine feeling lost and finding a lifeline in the unlikeliest of places. That's what happened to Krista H., whose story is featured in this episode of The Recovery Mile. Krista opens up about her battle with addiction and how Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and the 12 Steps became her path to recovery. She dives into the emotional challenges she faced, like surrendering to a higher power and the struggle to accept help.
Her candid discussion on the importance of AA literature and the transformative power of having a sponsor provides a heartfelt look into her journey. Krista doesn't shy away from talking about making amends and the ongoing nature of recovery, highlighting that it's a continuous process, not a one-time fix. She ends on a hopeful note, urging anyone grappling with addiction to reach out for help and reminding them that they are not alone.
This episode is a must-listen for anyone seeking inspiration or support in their own recovery journey.
