Michelle's Journey: From Bipolar Struggles to Peer Support Advocate

Just an amazing story that you've had for us. I love the fact that struggles at Seven Years Old and here you are Today and just being able to be this confident, focused, goal oriented, full of life and self-esteem woman that is helping others move forward in their recoveries, very inspiring.
Ever felt like the odds were stacked against you? Michelle Tuthill certainly did. In this heartfelt episode of 'From Hurt to Healing', host Daniel sits down with Michelle to discuss her rollercoaster journey through mental health challenges. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder at a young age, Michelle faced the harsh realities of psychiatric units and the heavy stigma surrounding mental health in the 80s. Her story is one of resilience, perseverance, and the transformative power of peer support.
Despite failing out of three colleges, Michelle found her footing in a marketing program and later discovered Peerstar's Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) program. This program not only helped her regain her self-esteem but also gave her a new sense of purpose. Michelle shares candidly about the lack of support from friends and how societal stigma made her journey even more challenging. Yet, she emphasizes the importance of seeking help and finding community support.
For anyone grappling with similar struggles, Michelle's story offers a beacon of hope and a reminder that it's never too late to turn things around.
