Meg Love: From Preacher’s Daughter to a Life of Compassion and Peace

I realized that, like, I did not want to test the final theories. I didn't hit another car, there was um, no legal ramifications, but being evicted, losing my job, um, and realizing that, like, I was as desperate and unfortunately then psychotic as before, I went to treatment. Um, I don't know, because I had this god who really needed me to be neat and tidy.
Imagine growing up under the watchful eyes of a preacher, where every move is scrutinized and perfection is expected. That's the world Meg Love was born into. In this episode of 'The One Day At A Time Recovery Podcast', host Arlina Allen chats with Meg about her harrowing journey through addiction, abuse, and the road to recovery. Meg’s story is one of resilience and transformation, filled with moments that will tug at your heartstrings and leave you inspired.
Raised in a traditional Christian home, Meg grappled with the pressures of maintaining a flawless image while dealing with the hidden scars of religious trauma. A traumatic childhood event set her on a path of addiction and abusive relationships, nearly costing her life. But Meg's tale isn't just about suffering; it's about hope and the incredible power of change. Through sheer determination and a complete psychic shift, she managed to turn her life around.
Now, she lives a life she loves, filled with compassion and peace. One of the most striking aspects of Meg's journey is her realization that memories aren't always factual; they are often colored by our emotions. This insight was pivotal in her recovery, helping her understand and heal from past traumas. Meg also opens up about the importance of honesty in recovery, sharing how hitting rock bottom was the wake-up call she needed to seek help.
Her story underscores the significance of self-care and putting oneself first to truly help others. With a wicked sense of humor and a heart of gold, Meg’s narrative is a testament to the strength of the human spirit. Tune in to hear her inspiring journey on 'The One Day At A Time Recovery Podcast'.
