Liz Torres: Rising from Cocaine Addiction to Recovery
Drugs is not an option, using is not an option.
Liz Torres' life has been a whirlwind of trials and triumphs. Introduced to cocaine at just 16, Liz's story is one of stark realities and eventual redemption. Her early years were marred by abuse and abandonment; her father put her up for adoption, and she faced unimaginable hardships. By 17, she was entangled with a much older drug supplier, plunging deeper into addiction. Her cocaine use escalated to the point where it caused severe health issues, necessitating emergency surgery.
Yet, even after such a scare, Liz continued down the treacherous path of addiction. Despite holding down a job, her drug use eventually caught up with her, leading to a mandatory drug test and subsequent firing. Her addiction grew so consuming that she chose drugs over feeding her own children. However, Liz's story doesn't end there. Today, she's a beacon of recovery and hope, serving as a Volunteer Manager at CCAR. In this episode of the 'Recovery Matters!
