Lisa's Heartfelt Journey: From Foster Care to Adoption

I think the decision to be a parent is selfish. I am a lesbian, so I cannot lay down with the one that I love and create this. People say fucking noble all the time, noble, like I'm some fucking queen. I can do it, and I know that I can do it.
Lisa’s story is one of heart and determination. As the mother of a two-year-old foster child, she’s in the midst of petitioning for adoption. But that’s not all—Lisa also opened her home as an emergency foster parent to two other children this past summer.
In this episode of 'Birds In A Tree', Lisa sits down with Bridget Manley to share why she chose the path of fostering and adoption, and why she insists on being called just a mother, nothing more. Lisa’s narrative is filled with the raw emotions and realities of fostering. She candidly discusses the highs and lows, from the overwhelming love she feels for her foster children to the bureaucratic hurdles of the child welfare system.
Her journey underscores that motherhood is about the heart, not just biology. Listeners will be moved by Lisa’s unwavering commitment to her children and her belief in the power of love and respect in parenting. Whether you’re thinking about fostering, adoption, or simply want to hear a powerful story of maternal love, Lisa’s experiences offer a profound look into the life of a foster parent.
This episode is a touching reminder of the bonds we share as parents, transcending biological connections.
