I want people to get paid to cope. I don't want people to do all this stuff when they're at home. People show up to work three, four staff short and all of the work still gets done. But we believe somehow that it's impossible for us to take five or ten minutes to step off the unit to collect ourselves or to nourish ourselves or to pee or any of that other stuff.
Imagine facing high-stress situations every single day at work. For healthcare professionals, this isn't just a possibility—it's their reality. In this episode, Terri Vidals sits down with Dr. Mitchell Radin, a seasoned psychology manager at Hennepin Healthcare, to explore how he helps healthcare workers handle the relentless stress that comes with their jobs. Dr.
Radin has spent years supporting those in high-trauma roles and has developed a groundbreaking program aimed at teaching healthcare professionals healthier ways to cope with daily stressors. His journey began with a personal realization that his own methods of dealing with trauma exposure were unhealthy. This epiphany led him to create a more sustainable approach to stress management, which he now shares with others. Throughout the conversation, Dr.
Radin emphasizes the importance of recognizing the body's stress responses and adopting self-regulation techniques to mitigate the impact on mental and physical health. He advocates for a proactive stance on stress management, encouraging healthcare facilities to foster collaborative and supportive environments. This episode is packed with practical advice and insights that could be game-changing for anyone in the healthcare field.
Whether you're a nurse, doctor, or healthcare administrator, you'll find valuable takeaways to help you and your team better navigate the pressures of your profession.
