Leah B's Path to Sobriety: Embracing Surrender and Community

I'm surprised when I think about what I'm proud of, that I am tearing up that's because I'm alive and have made it through some really tough things and surprised myself by finding out that I'm really a worthwhile, valuable human being who does meaningful things and makes a difference, and has a great sense of humor, and that, out of that, people tell me that that affects them, that then they're able to know that they can loosen up and lighten up.
Step back to 1984, a year when the first Apple computer hit the market and gas was just a buck a gallon. For Leah B, it was also the year she realized she needed help with her drinking, despite having a successful career and a good head on her shoulders. In this episode of 'Voices of Recovery', Leah shares her candid journey from hitting rock bottom to finding a new way of life through absolute, sweet surrender.
Her story is one of growth, transformation, and hope. Leah opens up about her early days in sobriety, struggling to be her true self in social situations without the crutch of alcohol. She discusses the heavy burden of guilt and shame and how acceptance played a crucial role in her recovery. One of the key themes Leah emphasizes is the importance of esteemable acts—doing positive and meaningful things to help move past mistakes and missteps.
Through her narrative, Leah highlights the incredible power of surrender and the invaluable support of community in overcoming addiction. Her reflections offer inspiration and remind us that hope and healing are possible on the journey to sobriety.
