I didn't want it to be real, even though I didn't even tell you like at this point I had already like had DTs, like I'd already had an experience that was physically scary, you know. So I was like, I knew I couldn't drink anymore for now, but I didn't want AA to be a solution.
Kim J.'s life story is a gripping tale of resilience and recovery that will leave you inspired. Growing up in a family marred by verbal and physical abuse, Kim found herself running away from home multiple times, only to be dragged back into the chaos. Her early escape routes included alcohol and street drugs, setting the stage for a tumultuous journey through addiction.
By her twenties, Kim's life was a whirlwind of heavy drinking, dangerous relationships, and the constant struggle to keep her head above water. Despite holding down various jobs, the grip of addiction tightened, affecting every aspect of her life. After 28 years of emotional, physical, and spiritual turmoil, Kim finally walked through the doors of Alcoholics Anonymous. It wasn't an immediate transformation; embracing the AA program took time and effort.
But Kim's story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the incredible support found within the AA community. Through this candid interview, listeners will hear about the pivotal moments that led Kim to seek help, the challenges she faced along the way, and the profound changes that came with sobriety. Her journey offers hope and practical insights for anyone grappling with addiction or supporting a loved one through their recovery.
