I'd reach out to my sponsor about alcohol. So that took some time for me to get to that. I got more meetings now than I did the first year. I try to make it myself present. You know, we were talking about particular meetings, too. And I think there's times to go to a meeting to serve. And there's times, and hopefully we're always doing both, and times to consume. And I try to make sure I'm always in a couple meetings a week with a fair amount of newcomers.
Ever wondered how someone can seem to have it all yet struggle silently with addiction? Kevin S. paints a vivid picture of this duality in his heartfelt conversation with Howard L. on 'AA Recovery Interviews'. Growing up in a successful family, Kevin appeared to have life figured out—thriving in his career, enjoying an active social life, and raising four children. Yet behind the scenes, his drinking spiraled out of control, threatening everything he held dear.
Kevin’s story takes us through the highs and lows of his journey. Despite his initial reluctance to embrace Alcoholics Anonymous, his exposure to the program during inpatient treatment became a turning point. Kevin shares candidly about the moments of despair that led him to seek help, the importance of men's meetings, and how he found solace in the AA community. Listeners will hear about Kevin’s struggle to balance a seemingly perfect life with his growing dependency on alcohol.
His tale is one of resilience, as he navigates the rocky path from denial to acceptance and ultimately, recovery. Howard L. guides the discussion with empathy, drawing out insights that resonate deeply with anyone affected by alcoholism—whether personally or through a loved one. Kevin's reflections on family history, the impact of alcoholism on his relationships, and the transformative power of AA offer hope and encouragement.
This episode is a must-listen for those seeking inspiration and understanding in their own journeys towards sobriety.
