Katie's Path to Sobriety: Overcoming Addiction and Finding Peace
There's a sense of freedom that I have found and I'm hoping, the more I push through and get out of this so-called run riot that I'll have that calmness to me, calmness to me again, and it's just like. I'm grateful for this program and I'm grateful for the people in the fellowship, because at 1 am they're the ones who saved my fucking ass.
Katie's story is one of grit and determination. Growing up in an Irish Catholic family with a history of addiction, she was no stranger to the impact it can have on a person's life. School was tough for Katie; she felt isolated and turned to alcohol at a young age to cope. This eventually spiraled into experimenting with harder drugs, leading to a long battle with addiction.
Despite numerous attempts at sobriety and stints in treatment centers, Katie often found herself slipping back into old habits, burdened by resentment and emotional pain. It wasn’t until she had a moment of clarity and decided to seek help that things began to change. With the support of her sponsor, the 12-step program, and a strong fellowship, Katie managed to find the freedom and calmness she had been searching for.
Her journey is ongoing, but her story serves as a beacon of hope for anyone struggling with addiction. Tune in to hear Katie’s inspiring journey and how she built solid relationships based on trust and mutual support.
