When I started, once my actions and my drinking started to have an impact on these two innocent children who looked up to me and who loved me, I couldn't ignore that anymore. I've never felt like this before in my adult life. I had no idea of the joy of being sober and waking up and looking forward to the day instead of automatically thinking about what happened the night before and hating myself. That is happiness, you know, that is not hard, that is the most incredible feeling in the world.
Growing up in a bustling London household, Kate's early years were marked by an all-too-familiar story of heavy drinking. By her early 20s, life felt like one endless party, but beneath the surface, she grappled with questions about her identity and purpose. In this episode of 'Sober Motivation', hosted by Brad McLeod, Kate opens up about her decades-long battle with alcohol and the pivotal moments that led her to choose sobriety.
Listeners are taken through Kate's journey from her first drink at 14 to the highs and lows of her college years, and into her professional life where the drinking continued. Moving to America and becoming a mother added new layers to her struggle, but also brought moments of reflection that eventually sparked her transformation. Kate doesn't just share her story; she offers practical advice for those on a similar path.
From journaling to outdoor walks, she reveals the tools that helped her stay committed to her sober life. Now celebrating two years of sobriety, Kate talks about the newfound joy and freedom she experiences daily. This episode is a raw and honest look at one woman's fight to reclaim her life from alcohol.
Whether you're at the beginning of your sobriety journey or supporting someone who is, Kate's story provides both inspiration and practical strategies to help navigate the challenges of recovery.
