The challenge at times in first responder cultures is that they only hang out with each other. And what that ends up doing unintentionally is it ends up creating this assumption that we are all in teams against each other. When someone has not, when whoever it is politically or religiously or whatever it might be is so different than me, I cannot connect with them and we don't share any goals or dreams or appreciate any of the smaller things in life, I think those things end up keeping us pretty sick.
Picture this: you're a first responder dealing with high-stress situations daily, and your mental health is constantly on the line. In this engaging episode of 'No One Fights Alone', hosts Austin Pederson and Brad Shepherd sit down with Ben Pearson, the clinical director at Chateau Recovery, to discuss a game-changing approach called the Arbinger mindset.
Pearson, with his 20 years of clinical experience, believes that shifting from an inward to an outward mindset can be a key factor in improving the mental health and relationships of first responders. He dives into how our beliefs and actions are deeply influenced by our mindset and how this shift can lead to healthier, more empathetic connections with others.
Throughout the conversation, you'll find practical tips on how to recognize when you're stuck in a defensive stance and how to move towards a more outward, compassionate approach. The episode also touches on the importance of mindfulness and self-awareness in managing one's mindset, offering listeners valuable tools to build resilience and nurture their relationships.
Whether you're a first responder or someone looking to improve your interactions and well-being, this episode offers a fresh perspective on the power of empathy and genuine human connection.
