Eric's Journey: From Opiate Addiction to Sobriety and Beyond

Humility Today means, and it allows me to um, it allows me to connect with people you know, it's like always, like you're like in a business environment, like I am good, I can give presentations, I can do all that, jazz, yeah, but like in terms of just like being in a room with other people and trying to connect with them and and show up with humility and not be fearful or arrogant, which is really just fearful as well, you know, that's what my recovery is about.
Eric's story is a compelling look into the grip of opiate addiction and the path to recovery. In this episode of 'Journeys of Hope: Real Stories from the Frontlines of Recovery', Eric opens up about his struggles with opiate addiction while maintaining a seemingly successful career. Despite making good money and being offered a vice president position at his company, his addiction was spiraling out of control.
The turning point came when he lost a friend to an overdose, a tragic event that made him realize the true cost of his addiction. Eric candidly discusses how he initially believed that drugs were just a way to cope with daily frustrations. However, as his dependency grew, so did the chaos in his personal and professional life.
He shares the challenges he faced in trying to quit on his own and the eventual decision to seek help at MARR Addiction Treatment Centers at the age of 30. Listeners will hear about Eric's experiences with relapse and the vital role that humility and connection played in his recovery journey. His story is a testament to the power of 12 Step spirituality and the importance of seeking support.
Eric's narrative highlights that recovery is not just about stopping drug use but also about rebuilding one's life and finding peace. This episode is a must-listen for anyone affected by addiction, whether personally or through a loved one. Eric's journey offers hope and practical insights into achieving and maintaining sobriety.
