Lateef Glivens has faced more than his fair share of life's harshest trials. Growing up surrounded by gang violence, he served nineteen years for a crime he didn’t commit. Post-incarceration, he struggled with addiction, but Lateef's story is far from one of defeat. In this episode of 'A Way Through', he shares how he broke free from the generational curse of addiction and now helps others do the same as the Lead Recovery Coach at Palmer Drug Abuse Program (PDAP).
PDAP is a youth-focused initiative dedicated to guiding adolescents and young adults towards a sober, healthy lifestyle. It provides not just recovery tools but also a supportive peer group where members can form lasting friendships in a safe environment. He stresses that while we can't alter our past, we hold the power to shape our future. His transformation from a life marred by crime and addiction to becoming a beacon of hope for families dealing with similar struggles is truly inspiring. Lateef's work at PDAP highlights the importance of individualized treatment and creating non-judgmental spaces where teens can openly share their struggles.
