Life's exciting, and we want to make use of it. The thing that is the additional thing for me, of course, is my hearing. I'm hearing impaired as well as blind. And I was thinking about travel, about transportation and crossing streets with my dog and I sort of got into anxiety mode, which fortunately I have enough training in doing deep breathing and so forth to keep that under control. But when you think about it, it's important, particularly when you're going into a new situation, particularly when we're blind, to do some pre-planning.
Stepping back into the world after COVID-19 has been a mixed bag for many, but for Bill Lundgrin, it was a whole new ballgame. In this episode of 'Blindsight', Bill recounts his first travel experience since the pandemic began, shedding light on the unique hurdles faced by the blindness community. He dives into the nitty-gritty of planning and preparing for such a journey, emphasizing how crucial it is to anticipate needs and seek assistance when necessary.
Bill's candid storytelling brings to life the anxiety and vulnerability that come with navigating unfamiliar environments, but also highlights the power of self-trust and leaning on others for support. His journey is a testament to pushing past comfort zones and finding empowerment through community and preparation. If you've been hesitant about rejoining the world, Bill's experience might just give you the nudge you need.
