I feel blessed just because of things that have come to me from my military service. And eventually I would love to retire from everything and just do free work, like just help people get out of the community, volunteer my time because we need it.
Ever wondered how a soldier copes with the demons of addiction while serving their country? Meet Will Christ, a former US Army serviceman who faced the harsh realities of addiction and has now turned his life around. Raised in Phoenix, Will’s childhood was anything but easy. With parents struggling with alcohol and an emotionally abusive father, his early years were marred by trauma, including the devastating loss of his cousin to suicide.
These experiences set the stage for his own battles with alcohol and drugs, which began at a young age and spiraled out of control by the time he was 14. Despite joining the US Army and serving in Afghanistan, Will couldn’t escape his addiction. The trauma of deployment only added fuel to the fire. But Will’s story doesn’t end there. Now 19 months sober, he’s channeling his experiences into helping others.
As a clinical intern at Calvary Healing Center in Phoenix and a Master's student in Social Work at Arizona State University, Will is on a mission to become a mental health therapist. His journey from the depths of addiction to a life dedicated to recovery and helping others is nothing short of inspiring. Tune in to hear Will's candid account of his struggles and triumphs, and find hope in his unwavering determination to make a difference.
