Mama June's Path to Sobriety: A Story of Resilience and Recovery

I woke up clean, I'm going to bed clean. Um, yeah, because I think that fits into what I wanted out of sobriety and that's really to be able to enjoy life and have a happy life.
June Shannon, affectionately known as Mama June, has lived much of her life in the public eye. Famous for her roles in 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' and 'Mama June: From Not to Hot', few knew about the personal battles she was fighting behind the scenes. In this episode of 'Sober Nation FM', June opens up about her struggle with substance abuse, which she kept hidden for years, even as her TV fame soared.
Arrested in 2019 for possession of crack cocaine, June's world came crashing down, but it also marked the beginning of her journey towards recovery. June talks candidly about how the pressures of media and fame contributed to her addiction, and how she justified her habits to herself and others. Her turning point came in January 2020 when she entered treatment, making sobriety her top priority.
Now, she’s not just staying clean; she's actively giving back, working at a treatment facility, and even dreaming of opening a sober living home. This episode is a raw and honest look at the ups and downs of addiction and recovery. June discusses the importance of treatment centers, staying accountable, and building healthy relationships with family and the sober community. Her story is one of hope and resilience, showing that it's never too late to turn your life around.
Whether you're on your own path to sobriety or supporting someone who is, June's story offers valuable insights and inspiration. Tune in to hear how she navigated the turbulent waters of addiction and found a new purpose in life.
