Francine's Story: From Teenage Drinking to Sobriety and Self-Discovery
I stopped using the phone because I didn't want people to know how messed up I was, and I smoked a lot of cigarettes and I listened to a lot of music and I'd pass out, and that was the only way I could go to sleep.
Francine's journey with alcohol began in a family steeped in addiction. Growing up in such an environment, she started drinking at 15, hoping it would help her overcome her shyness. Instead, it often left her in troubling situations, like the night she found herself falling down drunk in the street. Her struggle with alcohol continued into her college years, where she worked as a topless dancer.
This lifestyle and her addiction made it difficult for her to maintain healthy relationships, leading to a failed marriage. It wasn't until a boyfriend pointed out that her drinking was out of control that Francine decided to seek help. In this episode of Steppin' Out Radio, Francine opens up about how rehab played a crucial role in her recovery. She shares candidly about her time in rehab, the steps she practiced, and the moments she acted out.
Francine emphasizes that recovery is a continuous process that requires ongoing work on oneself. Her story is one of hope and transformation, offering valuable insights and encouragement for anyone facing similar challenges.
