Michelle S: Overcoming Addiction and Embracing Sobriety

I thought, sure, I'd be honored, but that was one part in my life that I really struggled with was god. I don't believe that, and they said to me: don't worry about that part, that'll come way later, and that's a good thing, because I didn't worry about that part, and it came later, you know, and I started working the steps and I and I I couldn't do that part, I couldn't do the god part, and so I believed in a lot of different things in my sobriety.
Michelle S takes listeners on an emotional rollercoaster as she recounts her path to sobriety in this episode of Sober Cast. From her early struggles with drugs and her mother's battle with alcoholism, Michelle's story is both raw and relatable. She vividly describes her first AA meeting, a pivotal moment that changed her life forever.
Michelle opens up about her initial resistance to the concept of a higher power and how she eventually found a way to work through the steps in a manner that resonated with her. Graduating high school and attending college while staying sober were monumental achievements for Michelle, and she credits AA for playing a crucial role in her success. She also emphasizes the importance of accepting people, places, and things as they are, which has brought her peace and happiness.
