Courtney F: From Addiction to Music and Sobriety

I'm just so grateful to be here and to be in a room full of alcoholics and know that no matter what's going on, I can always find unconditional love and unconditional support in the rooms of AA.
What happens when the chaos of addiction meets the healing power of music? Courtney F's story offers a compelling answer. Speaking at the Primary Purpose Group in February 2017, Courtney opens up about her tumultuous journey from addiction to sobriety. From a young age, she struggled to fit in, turning to drugs and alcohol as an escape. This led to failed college attempts and strained family ties.
Her turning point came when her parents intervened, sending her to a treatment program in Florida. It was there that she found the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), where unconditional support and love helped her get sober and stay that way. Courtney emphasizes the importance of honesty and vulnerability in recovery, along with the benefits of therapy and working through emotions. She also touches on the power of forgiveness and the joy of helping others on their recovery journey.
Post-sobriety, Courtney discovered her passion for music, earning a bachelor's degree in classical piano performance. She acknowledges the challenges of early sobriety but underscores the significance of relationships and understanding within the AA community. If you're seeking inspiration and hope, Courtney's story is a must-listen. Her journey highlights how recovery can lead to discovering new passions and building meaningful connections.
