  • Developing effective EDI policies requires a comprehensive understanding of human rights codes and utilising available resources.
  • The episode provides thought-provoking insights into the intersection of mental health and EDI, underscoring the impact of fostering diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environments.
  • Dr. Tapo Chimbganda's practical advice offers a blueprint for businesses to navigate the complex landscape of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
So I do think that sometimes diversity has to come after we've done a lot of work on equity so that when we do bring people into an environment, it's not toxic, it's not traumatic, it's not harmful. Structures have been put in place that are inclusive, that are equitable. And so diversity works in those situations.
Ever wondered how businesses can truly embrace equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) while supporting mental health? In this episode of 'Life Unscripted', host Janice Arnoldi sits down with Dr. Tapo Chimbganda to unpack this vital topic. Dr. Tapo, an expert in EDI, shares her wisdom on why equity should come before diversity in workplace initiatives. She explains how inclusive policies can make a significant difference, especially for individuals with disabilities and those in the LGBTQ+ community.
The conversation doesn't stop at theory; Dr. Tapo provides practical steps for businesses to start their EDI journey, including understanding human rights codes and creating accessible environments. This episode is a must-listen for anyone looking to foster a supportive and inclusive workplace where mental health is a priority.
