Brandy Bobier: Building Community Through Food and Volunteerism
There's no reason for anybody to be hungry right now, like we're over producers and farmers and anything food related and distributors that they were overproducing so much food because there's aesthetically, for aesthetic reasons only, there's so much food going to waste and it's disgusting and like because of places like leftovers and places like second harvest food rescue, the end places like harvest Manitoba. It's made me just such a better person and it's made me feel more fulfilled in like everything that I'm doing, and I wouldn't change that for the world.
What happens when passion for food meets a drive to uplift the community? You get Brandy Bobier, the inspiring guest on this episode of Tyler Martinson's Reputation Rehab. Brandy, the powerhouse behind Classic Eats Catering and Baking, is also the founder of Community Helpers Unite (CHU). Her journey is a testament to how one person can spark significant change by combining culinary skills with a heart for service.
Brandy's initiatives, like bringing Leftovers Foundation Rescue Food to Winnipeg from Calgary, are just the tip of the iceberg. She’s not just feeding people; she’s creating opportunities for those facing employment barriers through volunteerism and skill-building. In their conversation, Tyler and Brandy dive into the nitty-gritty of running community kitchens and partnering with registered charities to maximize their impact.
