Life After Trauma: Tim's Journey from 911 Responder to Healing Advocate

We need to treat the church like a hospital. It's become apparent in the pandemic when people all of a sudden are live streaming and then they don't hear from their pastors or anybody, and it just became apparent that it's like we love you as long as you're tithing and you're perfect exactly, and if you have any possible issues or problems that are contrary than the message we are trying to present to the next person who's coming in the door, we'd rather you didn't share that.
Imagine dedicating 14 years of your life to serving others, only to find yourself battling anxiety and PTSD. That's the reality for Tim, a former 911 responder, who shares his deeply personal story in this episode of 'The Sober Truth'. George Wood, the empathetic host, sits down with Tim to discuss the raw and often overlooked struggles that come with being on the front lines.
They don't just talk about the pain; they explore how faith has been a cornerstone in their paths to recovery. George also touches on the challenges faced by those in second and third marriages within the church, emphasizing the need for the church to act as a sanctuary—a hospital for those in need. The conversation goes beyond personal anecdotes, shedding light on pressing issues like human trafficking and homelessness in Tampa Bay.
With a mix of candid dialogue and heartfelt reflections, this episode offers a powerful reminder that healing is possible, even after the deepest wounds.
