Finding Strength in Sisterhood: Brenda and Jametric's Path to Recovery

I thought I did, you know, but I learned that a lot of times what you're going through, the substance use or the problems that you're having in your head are a symptom of something deeper, where you have to retrain your brain.
What happens when two women from different backgrounds come together to share their stories of overcoming addiction? In this episode of 'Stories of Recovery', Brenda and Jametric open up about their journeys to sobriety and the transformative role Powell Recovery Center played in their lives. Brenda, who moved to Florida and got caught up in pill use after her divorce, realized she needed help when her life spiraled out of control.
She turned to Powell Recovery Center, where she discovered that her substance use was a symptom of deeper emotional issues. Learning to manage her emotions and retrain her brain became key steps in her recovery. On the other hand, Jametric found herself using substances to cope with the stress of being in a relationship with someone who was also using.
Seeking help at Powell Recovery Center allowed her to address her anger issues and learn healthier ways to deal with triggering situations. Both women emphasize the importance of taking that first step to seek help and the value of the sisterhood they found at the center. Living with other women in recovery can be challenging, but it also provides a supportive environment where they can rebuild their lives.
Brenda looks forward to mending her relationships with her family, especially her daughters, while Jametric has learned to walk away from conflict and agree to disagree. Their stories highlight that with the right support and approach, rebuilding a life after addiction is possible. Tune in to hear Brenda and Jametric's heartfelt stories of hope, resilience, and the power of community.
