Gary Chattaway: Overcoming Addiction with Cardio and Community

So for me at that time, I live in a Kansas city, is a fairly large city, and so there were a lot of aa meetings at the time I could go to, and- and that's what I did at that time I didn't have a job or anything, so I spent my time doing that.
Ever wondered how someone can turn their life around from the depths of addiction? Gary Chattaway's story might just be the inspiration you need. In this episode of Beyond Belief Sobriety, Gary opens up about his battle with alcohol addiction and his unique, secular approach to recovery. After hitting rock bottom, it was his fiancée who made him confront his alcoholism, leading him to seek help through AA meetings in Kansas City. But Gary's journey didn't stop there.
He discovered that cardio exercise played a crucial role in curbing his cravings, a revelation he shares in his book, The Human Glitch. Gary also dives into the mental health aspects of recovery, warning against the dangers of romanticizing alcohol. He stresses the importance of building a supportive sober community online and candidly discusses the challenges of managing an addiction recovery website.
Whether you're on your own recovery journey or supporting someone who is, Gary's story offers valuable insights and practical advice. Tune in to hear how he's turned his life around and continues to help others do the same.
