JF's Journey: 21 Years of Sobriety Through Acceptance and Letting Go
The reality is, I think the whole journey- it's like putting down the drink- is the first thing- I think that's the hardest part, for a lot of people- is putting down that drink and then learning that acceptance that j f talked about earlier, and that acceptance of walking into a room being like: okay, I can do this and I can go, and I can find out a little bit more about myself, even if I might be scared and I might be scared.
Ever wondered what it takes to stay sober for over two decades? In this episode of The Elizabeth Chance Podcast, JF opens up about his incredible journey to 21 years of continuous sobriety. Elizabeth and JF dive into the pivotal role of acceptance and the art of letting go, highlighting how these practices have been both challenging and transformative.
They also discuss the importance of group support and how it can be a lifeline during tough times, especially around the holiday season. JF’s story is a testament to the power of finding peace in sobriety and confronting the ego that often tells us we can't succeed. He shares candid reflections and experiences that offer hope and encouragement to anyone struggling with addiction. As Elizabeth poignantly notes, 'You stay alive, you get to have another one'.
