Katrina King's Road from Darkness to Advocacy

We need to address this in a multi-faceted way, with multi different personalities from different walks of life.
Katrina King's life story is a powerful testament to resilience and transformation. In this episode of 'Rescue the Rescuer', Katrina recounts her journey through addiction, incarceration, and the devastating loss of her daughter. Born into a family already battling addiction, Katrina's struggles began after a back injury led to a dependency on painkillers. Her addiction spiraled into prescription fraud and heroin use, culminating in her incarceration.
While Katrina was behind bars, her 20-year-old daughter Kirstyn succumbed to the same demons, tragically overdosing on prescription pills. The heartbreak of losing her daughter while being powerless to help was a turning point for Katrina. Emerging from prison, she found a renewed sense of purpose and committed herself to advocating for those affected by addiction and mental health issues. Today, she runs 'Recovered Purpose', an organization dedicated to educating and supporting individuals and families grappling with substance abuse.
Katrina collaborates with other advocates like Tim Ryan and Brandon Novak, bringing diverse perspectives and strategies to the fight against addiction. Her story is not just one of personal struggle but also one of hope and advocacy, emphasizing the need for comprehensive approaches to recovery.
