Beats' Journey: From Addiction to Advocacy

My job is to teach people how to not use on a Daily basis, and then every morning, soon after I read that, I go into my messages and I get a bunch of messages there going down: people that are grateful for what they're and they've got to send me a message every day on what they're grateful for, because I believe a grateful addict won't use drugs and a grateful alcoholic won't drink.
Imagine being 109 days sober from alcohol and sharing your story for the first time. That's exactly what Beats from The Get Down Podcast does in this episode of 'The Truth About Addiction'. He opens up about his tumultuous relationship with drugs and alcohol, starting from his school days, through university, and into his adult life. Despite the chaos, Beats managed to function as a 'junkie', but a pivotal moment made him rethink everything.
Now, he's a devoted family man, passionate about helping others through his work in disability and youth support, as well as organizing fundraisers for men battling alcohol issues. Beats' story isn't just about his struggles; it's also about the power of gratitude and community in recovery. He starts each day reading messages of gratitude, believing that a grateful addict won't use drugs and a grateful alcoholic won't drink. This simple practice has been a cornerstone of his recovery journey.
In addition to personal insights, Beats emphasizes the importance of finding a supportive community. He found solace and strength through his work and now uses his experiences to guide others on their path to sobriety. His dedication to helping others is a testament to the impact one person can have on many lives.
