Coach's Journey: From Addiction to Peer Recovery Specialist

It's so heartbreaking that you know I, I just I don't. Why also increasing the dialogue around the many positive aspects of sobriety versus the darkness of addiction, because the addiction is a dark place to live.
Ever wondered how someone can turn their life around after years of addiction? Meet Clayton C., known as Coach, in this gripping episode of the Sobertown Podcast. Coach opens up about his battle with drugs and alcohol, a fight that began long before he found sobriety in 2007 and 2013, respectively. His story is not just about quitting substances but about finding a new purpose in life and helping others do the same.
Coach now works as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist with the Hornbuckle Foundation and other organizations, guiding others through their recovery journeys. One of the most compelling aspects of Coach's story is his involvement with Sobersouls MC, a motorcycle club composed entirely of clean and sober recovering addicts and alcoholics. For Coach, this community has been a cornerstone of his recovery. He shares how riding with like-minded individuals has given him a sense of belonging and purpose.
Spirituality also plays a significant role in Coach's journey. After hitting rock bottom and facing legal troubles, he turned to a higher power for guidance. He recalls a pivotal moment when he dropped to his knees and asked for help, marking the beginning of his transformation. Coach's journey hasn't been smooth; he admits to 'white-knuckling' his way through the first year of sobriety and grappling with life's mundane challenges. But over time, he found fulfillment in helping others.
Today, he's a single father and a mentor, working with transitional housing programs and spreading the message of hope and recovery. Coach's story is a powerful reminder that recovery is possible and that finding a supportive community can make all the difference. Tune in to hear more about his incredible journey and the lessons he's learned along the way.
