Khadi's Mission: Creating Safe Spaces for Sober Black Women

If I would have saw an organization or a group or a community that looked like me, there would have been no need for me to start it.
Ever felt like you didn't quite fit into the recovery communities out there? Khadi from Sober Black Girls Club knows that feeling all too well. Living in New York, she faced her own battle with alcohol addiction in 2018 and found herself struggling to find a community that truly understood her experiences as a sober black woman. So, she decided to build her own.
Now, she's on a mission to support black girls, women, and non-binary folks through their journeys to sobriety. In this episode of 'After Alcohol', hosts Leisa Leon and Leanne Franks dive into Khadi's inspiring story. They explore the importance of representation in the sober community and discuss the unique challenges faced by black women in recovery. Khadi sheds light on the need for safe spaces where individuals can unpack generational traumas and heal.
As a lawyer, Khadi goes beyond emotional support by providing legal advice and raising funds for essential resources. The conversation also touches on therapy's crucial role in sobriety and the importance of self-investment. This episode is a heartfelt and eye-opening discussion about breaking the stigma around sobriety and ensuring everyone has the right to recover. If you're looking for a story of resilience and community-building, this episode is for you.
Tune in to hear how Khadi is making a difference, one sober black girl at a time.
