Harmony in Healing: Christina Rubino and Jerry Farley's Sobriety Journey

I had to produce a master's thesis, and most of it I wrote, standing up in my bedroom, drinking- I don't know what I was drinking- beer or wine, wine, probably because I wanted to make myself feel and I turned it in and the guy was like: this doesn't make sense, I can't work with you and I don't know if you know how to write.
What happens when the power of music meets the struggle of addiction? In this episode of 'Voices from Rock Bottom', Dr. Prof B sits down with musician Christina Rubino and music producer Jerry Farley to discuss their intertwined journeys through addiction and recovery. Christina and Jerry open up about how their creative processes became lifelines during their darkest times.
Christina shares her experience of producing a master's thesis while grappling with alcohol, only to be told by her professor that it didn’t make sense. Meanwhile, Jerry reflects on his own path to sobriety and how he introduced the concept of recovery to Christina. Together, they explore the fear many artists have about losing their creativity when they get sober, and how the making of Christina's music video for 'Down By The Sea' symbolized their path to recovery.
They also talk about the challenges of staying clean in the music industry, the importance of having a supportive crew, and their hopes for the future of 'Voices from Rock Bottom'. This episode offers a raw and honest look at the intersection of art and sobriety, providing a safe space for anyone facing similar battles. Tune in to hear how creativity, community support, and readiness can light the way to healing.
