Safe Havens: COVID-19 Protocols in Addiction Recovery Centers

The changes we've done have been very dynamic...the programming, though for the most part, is carried on. The visitation of other family members, and we actually have them come on campus and we provide PCR swabs for the family, and so the guests that have been here for a while do get visitation, and we've even been able to do that in a reasonably safe fashion.
Imagine trying to navigate addiction recovery during a global pandemic. That's the reality Dr. Greg Boris and his team at High Watch Recovery Center faced head-on. In this episode of 'Scope of Practice', Dr. Boris breaks down the innovative measures they implemented to keep both clients and staff safe from COVID-19 while ensuring the therapeutic environment remained intact. As an emergency physician, Dr. Boris knew the stakes were high and acted swiftly to introduce rigorous testing and safety protocols.
High Watch Recovery Center didn't just survive the pandemic; they thrived by turning quarantine into an orientation period for new guests, maintaining programming, and even allowing safe visitations. Dr. Boris shares how these efforts paid off, proving that with the right strategies, recovery communities can be both safe and supportive. This episode is a must-listen for anyone curious about how recovery centers adapted to the challenges posed by COVID-19, offering a beacon of hope and resilience in uncertain times.
