The Kane Family: Turning Tragedy into Hope and Healing

We set up the Jennifer Cain fund and at the bank to put the money there, and then we had a meeting with the family and we decided that she actually loved her time at Villanova. And at that point, we decided we'll have two scholarships. So now every year there's a junior and senior that get the scholarship and that's up to as the principal. What they get about interest is like each one will get and that will just continue on and on and on in perpetuity.
Imagine losing a loved one in one of the most tragic events in modern history and then using that pain to fuel a mission of hope and recovery. In this episode of 'Courage to Hope', Tony Lagreca sits down with the Kane family, who share their heart-wrenching yet inspiring journey after losing their daughter, Jennifer Kane, in the Twin Towers on 9/11. Mr. and Mrs.
Kane open up about Jennifer's remarkable life, the chaotic days following the tragedy, and the ongoing impact of their loss. Despite their grief, they have channeled their sorrow into meaningful charitable work in Jennifer's name. They've established the Jennifer Kane Fund and created scholarships at Villanova University, providing vital support to students. But their efforts don't stop there. The Kanes are also deeply involved in community work, particularly with organizations supporting families affected by addiction.
Through these initiatives, they aim to break down the stigma surrounding addiction while honoring Jennifer's memory. This episode is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the healing power of giving back.
