Every man has two lives, and the second one starts when he realizes he has only one.
Meet Dustin, a man who seemed to have it all—athletic talent, a supportive family, and a bright future. But beneath the surface, he was living a double life, struggling with alcohol addiction. Raised in a Christ-centered home, Dustin initially steered clear of alcohol. However, the social pressures of high school and college soon pulled him into the drinking culture.
Despite facing three DUIs over 11 years, including jail time and strained relationships with his parents and future wife, Dustin found it hard to break free from alcohol's grip. It wasn't until a stint in rehab that he experienced a turning point. Now sober, Dustin has dedicated his life to writing, running, and therapy.
He shares his story publicly and has even authored a book titled 'Looks Like We're Running: An Amateur's Companion to Becoming a Marathoner', blending his love for running with his sober journey. In this episode of 'Sober Motivation', Dustin opens up about the challenges and triumphs of living a double life while battling addiction. He highlights the transformative power of rehab and the importance of genuine connections in recovery.
Through his candid narrative, Dustin shows the freedom and strength that come from living authentically. His commitment to running and building relationships based on honesty has been key in redefining his identity and fostering personal growth. Tune in to be inspired by Dustin's story and discover how embracing vulnerability and community can lead to lasting sobriety.
