Dave's Journey: Finding Strength in Sobriety Amid Life's Turmoil

The great obsession of every alcoholic is that they can drink like a normal drinker. And so I was truly surprised when I, you know, I was doing it to try to prove to somebody that I didn't have a problem. But I would have these weird impulses like, as they're practicing, to like smack his hand off the guitar, sitting there by myself, like what, like just it's called an intrusive thought.

Ever wondered how someone can stay sober through life's toughest trials? Meet Dave, whose story is a testament to resilience and hope. Growing up in Anaheim, CA, Dave faced an early life marked by his father's absence and the unconventional upbringing by his 'hippie biker' parents. At just 22, he made the brave decision to get sober, a choice that would be tested by unimaginable hardships.

When his best friend took his own life and Dave discovered his friend's betrayal with his wife on the same day, many would have turned to substances for solace. But not Dave. In this episode of 'The Courage to Change: A Recovery Podcast', he shares how he navigated these dark times without picking up a drink or drug, and how he built a beautiful, sober life against all odds.

Through candid reflections, Dave discusses the importance of mindfulness, self-awareness, and finding sober love. His journey is not just about overcoming addiction but also about thriving despite life's relentless challenges. Tune in to hear Dave's inspiring story and join the 'no matter what' club, because together, we have the courage to change.
