It's okay because I didn't either. Yeah, I know there's someone out there that loves you and you can say absolutely whatever you want because it's going to work. I know there's people out there struggling. It's okay to have those feelings speak up because there's someone out there that loves you and cares for you and life is beautiful and it's okay to have a problem.
Growing up in a small town in Saskatchewan, D Jay McGrath had one dream: to make it to the NHL. At just 15, he moved away from home to chase that dream, but the pressure soon became overwhelming. Starting with drinking and smoking, D Jay's substance use escalated to include weed and cocaine as he struggled to cope with the intense demands of hockey and being away from home.
Seen as a small-town hero, the weight of expectations only added to his burden, pushing him into a spiral of addiction. On June 6, 2022, D Jay reached a breaking point. Overwhelmed by suicidal thoughts and unable to keep his struggles to himself any longer, he made an unexpected trip to his parents' house. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of his journey towards sobriety.
