When you're in recovery, you peel back layers, and I think for me, when I got to a layer I didn't want to deal with, I filled my calendar and I filled my to-do list, and I just kept filling and filling, and filling and filling to the point where it was like I was trying to make up for lost time and leave myself no time for reflection, because as long as I couldn't think about it, then I wasn't going to have to deal with it.
