I have nothing in common with Bill W. I don't come from New England. I didn't go to a prep school. I wasn't an officer in a foreign war. I didn't have any of those great fortunes. But there's a part in his book where he says I had arrived in his story. And for me, I always talk about arriving like see that's the difference you know my aunt joe the crazy my mom's sister who I told you found a the first time I remember reading the line war fever ran high was my aunt joe had a big book in every one of her son's bedrooms on the nightstand like she was a little over the top and like i remembered years later reading war fever ran high and i'm like i read this at aunt joe's house like how crazy is that but um when you read that book like that, it doesn't help you. You have to go through the book with someone who's been through the big book. You have to be with someone who helps you identify and not compare.
