Jeff's life was shaped by a father who was both an alcoholic and a gambler. Learning to read race tickets before books, Jeff grew up thinking gambling was not just cool but essential. This led him down a dark path filled with tracks, casinos, and bookies, eventually costing him his marriage and nearly his life.
At his lowest point, Jeff attempted suicide but survived, reaching out to Michael—not for help, but for money. Michael, who had joined Gam-Anon, realized the devastating impact of his father's addiction on their family and urged Jeff to seek real help.
