Mastering Mindfulness: Calming the Racing Mind in Recovery
Mindfulness means that, at least in part, that I have some ability to choose what's going on. I have some distance, if you will, you know, I can zoom back and instead of having my face right in the problem, I can kind of zoom back and see more of what's going on and perhaps have some ability to decide if that's how I want to use my mind at this time.
Ever feel like your brain is running a marathon with no finish line in sight? You're not alone. In this episode of 'Spirit of Recovery', co-hosts Rev. Lonnie Vanderslice and Rev. Dan Beckett tackle the whirlwind of thoughts that often plague those in recovery. They open up about their own struggles with racing minds and share the mindfulness techniques that have helped them find peace.
The episode dives into both informal and formal mindfulness practices, offering practical advice on how to interrupt negative thought patterns and replace them with healthier behaviors. Lonnie and Dan break down simple mindfulness exercises you can try at home, making it easy to incorporate these practices into your daily routine.
Whether you're in recovery, supporting someone who is, or just curious about mindfulness, this episode provides valuable insights and tools to help calm the mind and foster a sense of inner peace.
