Surviving COVID-19: A Resident's Journey at Windana's Therapeutic Community

A whole lot of us would try and just think of these little workshops or activities on the weekend that we could do to just keep our spirits up and stay connected. Since COVID, I've never seen such a strong-knit-community, to be honest.
What does it take to stay sober during a global pandemic? In this episode of 'Straight From the Source', we hear from a resident at Windana's therapeutic community, who shares their experiences navigating addiction recovery amidst the challenges of COVID-19. Known as 'the farm', Windana's residential facility at Maryknoll has seen its residents and staff adapt in remarkable ways.
The episode sheds light on how the community has deepened its connections and found innovative methods to support each other despite physical distancing and isolation. The resident discusses the unique approach of Windana, which includes functional skill-building and buddy systems that are crucial for maintaining sobriety. They also highlight the importance of community support and how the pandemic has, in some ways, strengthened the bonds within the community.
Additionally, the episode touches on the vital role of peer support in transitioning back into society after completing recovery programs. This conversation offers a candid look at the power of community and peer support in overcoming addiction, making it a must-listen for anyone interested in recovery journeys.
