I had found a home, I had found a way to fill that hole, as we said, yeah, yeah, it was, it was drug abuse. Also, I didn't have to feel anything, and that feeling of being part of was always a big thing I never felt part of when I was in school, and even with kids in the neighborhood, I didn't feel part of.
Imagine being a teenager and feeling utterly alone, only to find fleeting comfort in the warm haze of alcohol. That's how Mike's journey began. His first drink left him craving more, despite the public humiliation that followed when he passed out. As he grew older, his search for that same feeling led him to drugs, including cocaine, and wild road trips with friends.
But by 18, Mike discovered he could get his fix without anyone's help, plunging him into a dark period of isolation and addiction.
